Christina Meeks is a native Alabamian. In fact, she spent much of her childhood in Marshall County. She's originally from Talladega County near Sylacauga and attended Coosa County schools. She obtained her degree on campus from Mississippi State University.
Before coming to WHNT, Christina worked as a freelance broadcast meteorologist at WBIR in Knoxville, TN. At the end of last year, Christina left The Weather Channel, which is based in Atlanta, after working there for three years. Before that she worked for over two years at WJTV in Jackson, MS. Prior to that, she was a meteorologist at a station in southeast Texas. Christina is also a SkyWarn storm chaser.
Christina is a member of the American Meteorological Association, where she is a committee member. She is also a member of the National Weather Association. When not working, she visits with her family in Marshall County and in her home area of the Talladega National Forest. She enjoys rock climbing, spelunking, scuba diving, horseback riding and wildlife rehabilitation.
One of the first things people ask Christina is, "What made you interested in weather?" This may seem sappy, but it's true. When she was a little girl, the question to her mother was, "Where does God live?" She pointed to the sky and said, "Up there". As a four-year-old, she would look up in the sky trying to see Him lounging on the clouds. When she saw the sun's rays from behind a cumulus cloud, she thought that was Him. Over time, she noticed how clouds grow and move and her interest began there.
