Meridianville Neighbors Warn Each Other About Thieves
MERIDIANVILLE - People who live in a Madison County neighborhood got a warning in their mailbox to keep their doors locked to keep vandals away.

Last week Madison County Sheriff's deputies say three cars were broken into all in one night in the Bainbridge subdivision in Meridianville.

Since that time flyers were made up to tell everyone of the car break-ins.

"This is a prime example of citizens in the community looking out for one another. This is exactly what we hope for and what we need in the sheriff's department," said Investigator Chad Brooks. "Community members coming together sharing information about what's going on in their specific areas and encouraging others to report things that are unusual or strange in the area to the sheriff's office."

Eric Stabler lives on the street where the car break-ins occurred.

Vandals got in his car about 5 months ago.

"They messed up my car, and smashed the dashboard open, got my radio. Then my next door neighbor, they busted his window out," said Stabler.

Stabler says it's time the neighborhood stands up to the thieves.

"They need to take action. They need to," said Stabler. "People work to hard for their stuff is the way I see it."

As for the cars broken into last week.

"They all consisted of vehicles that were unlocked. The offenders simply opened the doors and removed items that they wanted," said Investigator Brooks. "In cases like this it's always best to lock your doors."

If you see any suspicious activity in your neighborhood. The Madison County Sheriff's Department says to give them a call.

The Bainbridge Homeowner's Association is working on putting together a community watch program.
