HUNTSVILLE, AL—
HEMSI officials responded to an emergency call on Pitkin Lane in Northwest Huntsville around 8:00p.m Saturday. They went to the home to treat a 2-year-old who had cuts on the hand and arm.HEMSI says they treated the child, but sent the child to a hospital any way. A HEMSI official told WHNT NEWS 19 they noticed smoke coming off the side of the roof near an attic as they were leaving the home. They called the fire department to put out the fire.
Huntsville Fire says they found a fire inside a room in the back of the house. A fire official told WHNT NEWS 19 a firefighter working to put out the fire was burned on the face. He is expected to be okay, but was sent to the hospital as a precaution. We're told he was actually able to go back into the house to put out the fire before going to the hospital.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
