Huntsville Welcomes Home Wounded Warriors
With the events at Ft.Hood this past week and Veterans Day approaching Wednesday, the city of Huntsville is honoring wounded warriors from all over the country and welcoming them home. Several committees and businesses have made arrangements to honor roughly 30 veterans from across the United States throughout the week.

Saturday, greeted by strangers, friends and a band, wounded veterans made their way to the Plaza at Bridge Street for a "thank-you" for their service and sacrifice for our country.

"Their bodies are getting well and we want to help their souls get well," said Beverly Lowe, an event volunteer. "we want to love them and tell them we accept them back into our country and we're glad they're here."

Jonathan Crow, a wounded veteran in attendance, told WHNT News 19 the obstacles he has had to overcome.

"I was changing a vehicle system tire and it exploded in my face at work," Crow recalled. "Crushed my skull, cracked all the ribs in my body, threw me back six feet to hit a concrete wall and lie dead."

Crow was in a coma for three months, has had several surgeries to correct his left hand and skull, and will be completely blind in 4 months, after losing one eye in the explosion. His determination and positive attitude is remarkable and he's looking with a bright outlook to his future.

Events will continue throughout the week for these veterans, and they will participate in a parade on Wednesday.
