Peter Wright

Peter Wright is running as a Republican for the District 7 State Senate seat. He provided the following information to WHNT-19:

A few biographical notes: I'm a native of Huntsville, graduate of HHS (Class of '81), obtained my Eagle Scout from the local Troop 361, a long-time resident of District 7, twice Huntsville Clay Tennis Champion, and a life long member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. I obtained an engineering degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology while on a four-year AFROTC scholarship. I am a veteran of the US Air Force. I have served the federal government as a regular-commissioned officer and as a civil service employee. I have worked the last 6 years in private industry with Davidson Technologies, Inc as a Principal investigator. My combined engineering and project management experience in military, DoD, and the aerospace industry is 23 years. I am married and have 3 children.

Community involvement: past member of my church council, several years of involvement with the Volunteer Center, participated on the previous Mayor's, Loretta Spencer, citizen working group on transportation issues, and helped coach the Catholic High school tennis team.

During my career, I have worked on various programs: survivability of defensive structures; ground-based missile defense lasers; Theater Missile Defense (THAAD); Ground-based Midcourse Missile Defense.

My career started in the U.S. Air Force managing a $1M Program Element and conducting research on the nuclear survivability of strategic structures. Since 1990, I have worked in missile defense with increasing technical responsibilities and project management. I have performed project management duties, for example, on tactical field testing of communication systems. I now manage a team of 9 engineers and analysts who support Boeing's lead integration role on Ground-Based Midcourse Defense. During my career, I have performed system engineering efforts (requirements analysis, concept of operations, functional flow analysis, and timeline analysis), project management and field testing. I have successfully engaged in business development and proposal efforts for Davidson Technologies Inc.

My reasons to seek this AL Senate seat are motivated by my intense desire to protect Alabama's families and insure our District and community can reach its economic potential.

I believe I have the requisite life experiences (veteran, government service, and private industry) and much practiced critical thinking to serve this district in the Alabama State Legislature.
