MARTIN, Tenn. (AP) — A University of Tennessee at Martin student was arrested after police found guns and 2 pounds of marijuana inside an apartment on campus.
UT Martin's The Pacer newspaper quotes a campus police report saying officers acting on a tip approached the apartment of 19-year-old Tai Young late Thursday night. After smelling marijuana, they entered and asked the freshman Marketing and Economics major if he knew why they were there.
Young replied "Yes" and pointed to approximately 2 pounds of marijuana on his bed. A search of the apartment also found an SKS semi-automatic rifle, a loaded .22 caliber revolver and bundles of cash.
Young faces charges of drug possession with intent to sell, unlawful weapons possession on school property and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He remains jailed on bond pending his arraignment on Monday.
