FAYETTEVILLE, TN - Several months ago we brought you the story of John Edwards of Fayetteville, Tennessee. He bought Dual Action Cleanse, a colon cleansing product and ended up in the hospital.

He's okay now, but he's saddled with nearly $5,000 in medical bills and has no insurance.

We're pleased to report the BBB WHNT NEWS 19 Consumer Action Line got results for Edwards.

Klee Irwin is a veteran pill peddler whose hyped miracle herbs and supplements for years. His 30-minute Dual Action Cleanse infomercial is seen by the masses. He claims his colon cleansing program with 50 botanical ingredients will make your pipes shiny inside. But some people don't agree.

John Edwards bought into Klee Irwin's Dual Action Cleanse program and says it made him deathly ill. After about five days of taking this product at about three o'clock in the morning the sixth morning he says he got a real sharp pain in his stomach. He ended up going to the emergency room and was diagnosed with a blockage in his colon that prevented food and fluid from passing through.

Edwards spent four days in the hospital and incurred nearly five thousand dollars in medical bills. He does not have insurance.

WHNT News 19 took action and got results for him.

After some back-and-forth Klee Irwin agreed to reimburse Edwards half of his medical bills without turning the matter over to his insurance company and without doing a formal investigation to see if there was any evidence of liability. He cut John Edwards a check for 2,430 dollars and change.

Klee Irwin agreed to cover half of Edwards costs as long as we agreed to share the following statement from him:

"This safe herbal formula has been used by literally millions of people with incredibly scant percentages of poor results or bad reactions. When you use a product that stimulates the churnings of the digestive system in people who have pre-existing and very often un-diagnosed intestinal ailments, you will sometimes see a reaction that would not be caused by our product in a healthy individual. However, having held you up because i didn't want your viewer to deal with the insurance company, and because you were so dogged in your approach, I will agree without investigating, to pay for half of mister Edwards $4,000 + bill."

John Edwards is extremely grateful and wants others to know that the BBB WHNT News 19 Consumer Action Line partnership Gets Results.

Edwards says "It's a good program I mean it works you watch the news which I do all the time and you know you all go out there and you all work hard you do things for people you know that's good."

We would like to take this time to thank Klee Irwin for working with us. We are very appreciative he stepped up to help our viewer. He didn't have to do anything.
