ALBERTVILLE, AL - A Marshall County woman arrested for child endangerment pleaded guilty in Albertville city court on Tuesday. Jackie Denise Knott, 37, will have to serve five days in jail, starting today. She'll also have to serve probation, pay fines and do community service.

The judge sentenced Knott to 90 days in jail, but suspended 85 of them. Knott will also have to serve two years of probation, pay $729 in fines and perform 40 hours of community service. Knott will also have to complete a parenting class and attend driving school.

Albertville Police arrested Knott on October 3, after finding her driving on Highway 431 with a teenager riding in a box on top of her minivan.

Police say someone called them about a minivan traveling on Highway 431 with a large cardboard box on the roof. A child was inside the box.

Officers stopped the van on Highway 431 near Tyson Foods. They found a 13-year-old girl inside the box. Police questioned Knott about why the child was inside the box, and she said "the box was too big to go inside the van and she would be able to hold it down if she was inside the box."

Police then asked Knott if they thought the child was safe in this position, on top of the minivan. She replied, saying "the box was tied to the van with a clothes hanger."
