GUNTERSVILLE - Marshall County Sheriff's Investigators have charged a Guntersville woman with child abuse following a complaint that she was not feeding her infant.

Amanda Jean Jones, 21, of 3401B Perry Street, is charged with first-degree child abuse. Her bond was set at $10,000.

Investigators say someone filed a complaint about possible neglect with the Department of Human Resources in Marshall County. DHR became involved, and then called in the sheriff's department.

"In this joint investigation, we concluded that the child, who was five months old at the time of the complaint, was suffering from medical neglect and it was obvious that the child was not being fed," said Sheriff Scott Walls.

The child was placed into foster care during the investigation. Sheriff Walls says the child is expected to be returned to family members soon.
