Fort Payne Police are being credited with solving the nationwide manhunt. On Tuesday morning, Thomas Woodside called his mother, Mary Love, in Fort Payne.

Fort Payne Police traced the call to Mexico, and passed the information on to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Later Tuesday afternoon, authorities found Thomas and Breanna Woodside in Monterey, Mexico, which is just across the Texas border.

Both were the subject of a three-state Amber Alert, after Thomas, Breanna's father, did not return her to her mother last week in Frankfort, Kentucky.

Earlier Tuesday morning, police in Chattanooga found the Lincoln Town Car that Woodside was driving. The car was found in a parking lot at America's Best Value Inn. The infant car seat was removed from the car, and the keys were left with the vehicle.

A cab driver told Chattanooga police she picked the two up and drove them to a local bus station on Saturday. Thomas Woodside indicated they were headed to Colorado.

Monday afternoon, the state of Alabama issued an Amber Alert in Breanna Woodside's disappearance. Before this new sighting, she had last been seen Friday evening at McDonald's in Fort Payne, Alabama. Her father was seen later at the Econo Lodge in Fort Payne.

Monday morning, Thomas Woodside's mother, Mary Love, made an emotional plea for her son to surrender and bring her granddaughter to safety.

Love spoke with her daughter, Fort Payne Police and other authorities to issue a plea for her son to return Breanna Woodside safely. In tears, she asked for her son to come home.

Woodside had dinner with his daughter at McDonald's in Fort Payne on Friday night. Bobby Clements, a friend of Woodside's, joined them. Clements and Woodside graduated from Fort Payne High School together in 1998.

Clements was also at the news conference on Monday, and said he gave his friend $40.

He said Woodside was upset, and said he was tired of working through the Kentucky court system to see his daughter.

Police say Woodside stayed at the Econo Lodge that night, but no one reported seeing the girl. Hotel workers say they didn't find any evidence of the girl being in the room, for example, they didn't find any diapers in the trash can.

The state of Kentucky issued an Amber Alert for Breanna on February 28. Alabama echoed that Amber Alert on Monday afternoon.

Thomas Woodside had been driving a 1997 silver Lincoln Town Car with a Kentucky license plate 064BAA. Again, that car was found Tuesday morning in Chattanooga.

Woodside picked up his daughter early Friday morning at the police station in Frankfort, Kentucky. He was supposed to return her that same day, but did not.

Frankfort Police have two felony warrants out for his arrest: custodial interference and grand theft auto. The Lincoln Town Car belongs to his father.
