LIMESTONE COUNTY -
The search for a missing boater is over.
Rescue teams pulled the body of 47-year old Timothy Garner from the Elk River this afternoon.
"We found an image on the sonar screen, we sent a dive team down."
Kevin McWilliams is the Deputy Chief for the Rogersville Volunteer Fire Department said a dive team from the Florence Police Department went under water for about 40 minutes to see if the image would turn out to be anything at all.
"Approximately 5:20, they found an individual, and they've got him out of the water at this time," said McWilliams.
With a body found, it's a sad end in what should have been a fun outing for a father and son, who just wanted to take a quick swim in the Elk River.
Authorities tell WHNT-News 19, the teen said the two were boating along the river and wanted to take a break.
When Garner and his son into the Elk river, the boat drifted away.
When they tried to swim back to the boat, Garner father apparently had a tough time keeping his head above water.
The teen told investigators the last time his father managed to come up for air, he said "I love you" and then went under.
The teen told investigators he was picked up by a passing boat, and that's when the search began.
