Alabama voters will go to the polls on June 1 to narrow down the race for governor. You'll elect the state's next leader on November 2.On February 1, WHNT NEWS 19 gave you the chance to see where the candidates stand on one of the most important issues in our state: education. We partnered with the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology, The Huntsville Times and ETV for The Race for Governor: Candidate Forum.

Eight of the nine candidates running for governor accepted our invitation to the forum:

- Ron Sparks (D)
The event, held at the Jackson Center on the campus of the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology, included questions on education-related topics from panelists representing The Huntsville Times, WHNT NEWS 19, HudsonAlpha and the Huntsville City School System. A junior from Grissom High School participated in the forum.
