The countdown is on until the 'Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination' exhibit will debut at Huntsville's U.S. Space and Rocket Center. The exhibit begins June 25th and will run until September 6th. It features over 80 props and costumes from all six Star Wars films.

The most unique features are the hands-on activities. Experiments and laboratories where visitors can create things and see the close parallels between the science depicted in the films with some of the technologies we're on the verge of utilizing today. Like magnetic levitation, a similar concept to the locomotion of Luke Skywalker's 'Land Speeder'. Exhibit participants can actually build a magnetic levitation vehicle and try it out on the speed track included in the exhibit.

'Where Science Meets Imagination' has already been seen in 12 cities worldwide by over 2 million people. The family friendly and hands-on nature of the exhibit is expected to bring up to 175,000 additional guests to the U.S. Space and Rocket Center over the summer. Rocket Center spokesman Al Whitaker says it's all about putting Huntsville on the map.

"That's the bottom line and that's what it's all about, it gets our name out, gets more people to our museum, more people in town and ultimately it's not just about us," said Al Whitaker, spokesperson for the U.S. Space and Rocket Center. "It's area restaurants, the hotels, gas stations...everybody benefits."

And although the Star Wars exhibit hasn't even begun yet, the Space and Rocket Center has already booked the next big exhibit to come in the fall of 2010: 'The Chronicles of Narnia'.

Tickets for the Star Wars exhibit are available at Spacecamp.com and booking a reservation is highly advisable. May the force be with you!
