DECATUR -
One man is in the hospital, another is in jail after police respond to an incident in Decatur.
Police and paramedics were called to the 600 block of Austinville Flint Road near Day Road Saturday in southwest Decatur.
When officers arrived, they found James Leigh Smith suffering from several cuts and contusions to his face and head.
Smith was taken to Parkway Hospital for treatment.
Police say Smith told them he was assaulted by 37-year-old Randy Dent Hunt, who he described as a former best friend.
Police arrested Hunt Sunday, charging him with assault.
He's in the Decatur City Jail awaiting transfer to the Morgan County Jail.
