Joshua Joseph Hamer (Alabama Department of Corrections)
DECATUR, AL -
Law enforcement authorities have caught a man who escaped from the Decatur Community Based Facility early Tuesday morning. He was recaptured in Ardmore, Tennessee.
Joshua Joseph Hamer is in the custody of the Giles County Sheriff's Department. Brian Corbett, spokesperson for the Alabama Department of Corrections, says Hamer refuses to sign a waiver to return to Alabama.
Corbett says guards found that Hamer was not in his bunk at the Decatur Community Based Facility when they did their early morning rounds Tuesday. They found him missing from the facility at 3:50am. He is serving time for unlawful breaking and entering and theft of property.
