Decatur Police Looking For Two Scam Artists Who Lure Victims With Story, Card Game
Decatur Police are looking for two men who tried to take advantage of a man by getting him to participate in a scam. The scam involved a ride to a local store and a card game.

The man called Decatur Police on Monday and described what happened to him. As he was leaving a business, another man approached him. This man was black, in his 50s, about 5'10' and weighed approximately 220 pounds. The man was shabbily dressed and was missing several teeth. He asked for a ride to Wal-Mart. Police say the citizen felt sorry for the man and drove him there.

During the ride, the man told the citizen he was from Louisiana and was in Decatur to collect his deceased father's life insurance. When the two arrived at Wal-Mart, police say the black male just happened to run into one of his friends. He called that man, who was also black, over to the car. The two men tried to convince the citizen to play a game of Three Card Monte. The card game is deceptive, and usually ensures the player doesn't win.

Police say the citizen described the second black male as being in his late 40s or early 50s, well-dressed, and approximately 6'3" and weighing about 200 pounds.

If you have any contact with these two men, please call Decatur Police immediately at (256) 341-4600.
