Fireworks Set For Spirit Of America Festival
There's nothing like a big fireworks show to top off a Fourth of July celebration.

In Decatur, Pyro Productions Incorporated is getting ready for one of the biggest displays at the Spirit of America.

Saturday night several mortar tubes that sit on Point Mallard's soccer fields will be filled with fireworks.

"Electronic modules will be mounted to this and from a computer firing system it will tell which shell when it needs to go up and where it needs to go," said Steve Lewis with Pyro Productions.

Steve Lewis and this group are building cases for mortar tubes that will hold fireworks to make beautiful displays of color in the sky. Here's what you can expect.

"A 15 to 17 minute show that is simulcast with a radio station choreographed to music that'll be awesome."

Lewis explains how they sync the fireworks to music.

"You back time, you lift time to your explosion you watch your effect choreographing your effect to your music," said Lewis.

Of course these fireworks aren't the ones you play with at home. They're handling everything from 3 inch to 10 inch shells.

"We minimize risk by being careful with our product," said Lewis.

Over a thousand shots are expected to be fired at the Spirit of America Festival.

Lewis says computers have improved fireworks shows dramatically, as far as the timing of the fireworks.

The show will be simulcast with Rocket City Broadcasting Stations, and the music will also be heard at the show.
