Man Found Safe After River Search
MADISON COUNTY - Search crews spent an hour and a half early Wednesday morning looking for a man who fell in the Flint River, only to find out he had gotten out on his own and gone home.

The man was riding an ATV with a friend when the ATV went off an old farm bridge and into the river. His friend called 911. HEMSI's dive team, Madison County Search and rescue and Moores Mill firefighters all responded to the river behind Mt. Carmel Elementary School.

WHNT spoke to the man who went into the water. He told us the current swept him downstream, and he was in the water for about 20 minutes. He was able to pull himself from the river and used a person's phone at a home on Ryland Pike to call his wife, who went and picked him up.

After an hour and a half of searching the river, rescue workers finally found the man at home, warming himself up. HEMSI paramedics checked him out as a precaution. He was not hurt.
