New HEMSI Facility Coming To City Of Madison
MADISON - HEMSI, will soon have a new facility in Madison, to help meet the needs of one of the fastest growing communities in Madison county.

This building that's going up is actually replacing the old rental facility that's being used by HEMSI. Organizers tell me it's off of Capshaw and wall Triana.

The ambulance service provider's CEO, Jon Howell said this is a big day for Madison.

"We're finally going to be able to build a facility out here that will serve our needs now and in the future," said Howell.

Wednesday supporters including elected officials and HEMSI board members came out for a special ground breaking ceremony.

The new HEMSI station will be right by Huntsville Hospital's Medical Park off of Highway 72 in Madison. Mayor Paul Finley said this is a convenient location for families.

"Most of the time it's preventative medicine and it's emergencies, so having permanent structures that can support both of those...and that makes a big difference to our residents in Limestone County too," said Finley.

Once this million dollar facility is completed, it will hold up to 6 vehicles and support two full crews 24-7.

Howell said pulling everything together during the planning process was challenging.

"First of all a finding a location, the property on this part of the county is quite expensive..we partnered with Huntsville Hospital and we appreciate them leasing this land to us," said Howell.

The new HEMSI facility set to open in November.
