HILLSBORO - Alabama State Troopers are investigating a wreck involving a bus and truck on Highway 20, about a half mile east of Hillsboro.

The wreck happened Thursday around 3:25pm. The bus was carrying students from East Lawrence School.

Troopers say William Carraway of Trinity was driving the 1985 Ford truck that slammed into the back of the school bus. He was pinned inside. Carraway, 54, was flown to Huntsville Hospital shortly after emergency personnel pulled him out of the truck.

As of Friday morning, he was listed in serious condition in the surgical Intensive Care Unit. Troopers say Carraway was wearing his seat belt.

Five students on the bus sustained injuries, and were taken to Parkway Medical Center in Decatur, where they were treated for their injuries and then released.

The bus driver was not hurt.
