GLADSTONE, ND -
The sheriff's department in Stark County, North Dakota has released new pictures of two of the four people from Alabama arrested after a standoff this weekend.
Angela Mink and Joshua Southwick, seen in the photos, are being held in Southwest Multi-County Correctional Facility until further notice. Husband and wife Jacquelin and Ashton Mink are in a hospital, being treated for gunshot wounds.
It is not clear whether or not the suspects will be expedited back to Alabama to face charges.
In North Dakota, the four face charges of criminal conspiracy, including robbery and attempted murder for allegedly shooting at officers in a 14-hour standoff Saturday in Dickinson.
U.S. Marshal Ross Hebert says the four were arrested following the armed robbery of a video store in Dickinson. Marshals say the four led the Stark County Sheriff's Department on a chase, and deputies lost their vehicle after they turned their lights off in the chase.
"Before that happened, there were a couple of shots exchanged," Hebert said.
Hebert said the deputies continued to look for the vehicle, but also sent a 911 call to the local communities to notify them of the situation.
Hebert says a resident in Gladstone, North Dakota called police a short time later to say someone was trying to break in their garage. Hebert says it turned out to be the foursome.
Stark County deputies surrounded the garage and found the getaway truck. That's when the standoff began.
"The subjects were hesitant to to negotiate, or surrender for a long time," Hebert said.
Stark County brought in a SWAT team, and used cigarettes and a cell phone in their negotiations with the foursome.
U.S. Marshal Hebert says Joshua Southwick and Angela Mink walked out peacefully with their hands raised. It didn't go so peacefully with the other two.
"Simultaneously, Ashton Mink and his wife Jacquelin Mink ran out of the other side of the building handcuffed together, and began firing handguns at police officers," Hebert said.
Stark County deputies shot back, hitting Ashton Mink in the shoulder and side. They shot Jacquelin Mink in the chest.
Ashton Mink and Joshua Southwick escaped from the Perry County Correctional Facility in Uniontown, Alabama on May 25. U.S. Marshals say Angela and Jacquelin Mink cut the fence from the outside of the prison to help the two get free.
