Fire Guts Moores Mill Home
MADISON COUNTY - A house in Madison County is badly damaged in a fire. Firefighters say no one was hurt, but the homeowner is looking for another place to stay. Witnesses to the fire in Moores Mill told WHNT News 19, at times, the home looked like a huge fireball

Karen Snowden saw the home on Break Water Drive go up in flames.

"I saw flames shooting up the side of the chimney, and immediately called 911," said Karen Snowden.

Firefighters say they got Snowden's call just before 5:00p.m. Saturday. Snowden thought she knew what was going on at her neighbor's home, but needed to get a second opinion.

"I started running over to their house to see if it really was, and sure enough it was," added Snowden.

Snowden saw the fire from one side of the house while David Ogle saw it from another side.

"I just saw smoke coming from the back of the house, and thought it just did not seem right," added David Ogle.

Firefighters from several department put water on the fire.

Tyler Christian says the water could not knock off the fire fast enough.

"It was a bunch of flames going on. Smoke was popping up everywhere," added Tyler Christian.

"It happened in a split second," added Snowden.

Some say the blaze reached into sky with flames jumping 8 to 10 feet in the air.

"Out of nowhere, it looked like the house was exploding. Smoke was just flying out," added Christian.

Witnesses say the fire was caused by a grill. Firefighters would not confirm that information. Two dogs were saved from the fire.
