Forecasters with the National Weather Service office in Huntsville say two tornadoes touched down during Sunday's severe storms that moved through the Tennessee Valley.
Teams surveyed two different sites on Monday, one in Owens Cross Roads in Madison County, the other area southeast of Morgan City, in the Union Grove area of Marshall County.
In Marshall County, the most significant damage happened along Griffin Acres Road. The EF-1 tornado damaged roofs and uprooted trees. On Greenbriar Cove Road, a large tree fell on a trailer. This tornado hit between 3:40 and 3:45pm Sunday.
In Madison County, another EF-1 tornado touched down about 6:00pm Sunday, northeast of Owens Cross Roads. The worst damage was along the intersection of Richard Brannum Circle and Richard Brannum Drive. According to National Weather Service surveyors, numerous trees were snapped or uprooted. Two homes also suffered structural damage.
Additional trees were snapped or uprooted along Glover Road and Low Gap Road as the tornado tracked northeast.
