It was a very cold night for one family in Owen Cross Roads Saturday night. They were left out in the cold for a while as firefighters tried to put out the fire inside their home.
The fire happened at a house on Sneed Avenue in between T.E. McKinney Circle and Old Highway 431.
Firefighters say it started around 9:00p.m. Saturday. WHNT NEWS 19 was told the fire ripped through a one story elevated home that has storage space on the bottom.
Firefighters say no one was inside at the time of the fire. They were outside grilling. No one was hurt. There were two cats in the home. The family is still looking for them.
Officials say flames were seen coming out of the right side of the home and the roof. Flames shot as high as 10 or 15 feet out of the home.
Firefighters and police officers from Owens Cross Roads and New Hope were at the scene. HEMSI provided assistance as well. Power crews were called out to shut of the power.
The exact cause of the fire is unknown, but people who live there say the fuse box was popping earlier in the day.
