Burglary Suspect Shoots At Police Officer During Pharmacy Robbery; School on Lockdown
PHIL CAMPBELL, AL - Phil Campbell School is on lock down, and Northwest Shoals Community College's campus in Phil Campbell is closing for the day as police and sheriff's deputies look for a man who shot at a police officer earlier this morning during a pharmacy burglary.

The shooting happened around 5am at Phil Campbell Drugs, located at the corner of Highway 237 and Hardin Hester Drive. Phil Campbell Police Chief Merrell Potter says the officer responded to a burglary alarm that went off at the store around 5am. Chief Potter says the suspect immediately shot at the officer as soon as he got out of his police cruiser. Bullets hit the car, but not the officer.

The suspect ran into the woods. Phil Campbell Police, Franklin County sheriff's deputies other agencies are combing the area to look for him. Phil Campbell School is on lock down as a precaution, because it is very close to where the search is taking place.

Chief Potter says someone broke into Phil Campbell Drugs two nights ago. Police are checking to see if the two burglaries are connected.
