FORT PAYNE, AL -
A Fort Payne man faces serious charges after meeting a teenage girl through a family acquaintance. Joel Wayne Davis, 24, is being held on $90,000 bond.
DeKalb County Sheriff Jimmy Harris says his office received a report about a 24-year-old-man who was reportedly having sex with a 15-year-old girl. Investigator Mary Waters checked in to the situation, and Davis was arrested on November 4.
Sheriff Harris says Davis met the girl through a family friend. Davis is charged with three counts of second-degree rape, one count of interfering with child custody and one count of possession of child pornography.
Davis remains in jail on a $90,000 bond.
Sheriff Harris says additional charges may follow.
