Mother Of Geontae Glass Indicted On New Charges
GADSDEN, AL - There is new information about the Etowah County woman accused of killing her own five-year-old son. Friday, a grand jury handed down a new indictment against Shalinda Glass.

This new indictment is for a charge of first-degree murder. Glass has already been indicted for capital murder. Both indictments stem from the December 2006 murder of Geontae Glass.

Shalinda Glass is scheduled to go on trial in the spring and in case a jury has trouble finding her guilty of capital murder, prosecutors wanted a jury to have the option of finding her guilty of first-degree murder.

Last month, a jury convicted Glass' boyfriend, Kevin Towles, of capital murder in this same case. The jury recommended he be sentenced to death. Etowah County Circuit Judge Allen Millican will sentence Towles on December 15. He can decide to go with the jury's recommendation or rule otherwise.
