DECATUR -
Point Mallard Park is filling up for the Spirit of America Festival.
It's a tradition for some to spend the weekend out there for Independence Day.
People have already lined up their chairs in front of the stage because they want a front row seat to the events at the Spirit of America Festival.
Barbeque, seafood, and chicken on a stick are just a few things vendors have on hand, the stage is almost set for the 43rd annual Spirit of America Festival.
"We're just setting all of our cookers up, we got a trailer load of cookers," said Kevin Montgomery, with K.K.'s Concession.
Kevin Montgomery plans to cut a bunch of fries this weekend.
"It's about three days of cleaning and getting supplies and a full day of setting up," said Montgomery.
On the stage, Miss Teen Point Mallard contestants are practicing for the competition.
"It's a little bit stressful, but it always is and we'll have a good time tonight," said Barry Sublett, pageant director.
Barry Sublett is director of the Miss Point Mallard Pageant.
"Relieved that it's not raining right now, not nervous just ready to get to tonight. I hope everybody will come out and watch," said Sublett.
The Miss Teen Point Mallard Pageant starts Friday night at 7, and Miss Point Mallard starts Saturday night at 8.
