HUNTSVILLE, AL—
A scary wake-up call for a Huntsville couple Tuesday morning. Just after 5:00, an SUV charged into their apartment at The Reserve at Research Park.Sources said the people were sleeping inside their bedroom when the SUV drove through it. But, an apartment manager said they're both fine. The vehicle ended up in the living room of the unit, knocking out the master bedroom wall. Now, a tarp covers it.
Tire tracks and broken tree limbs show where the vehicle drove over the sidewalk and into the apartment.
"I heard this loud explosion, so I ran out, ran downstairs, and I saw that there was an SUV that had enlarged itself into my neighbors' bedroom," a neighbor recalled. "So, it was just unbelievable."
A manager said the people who lived on the top and bottom floors have new apartments to call home - at least temporarily. Police are not identifying the driver.
The woman inside the apartment told the manager she had just moved her bed three days earlier away from the wall the SUV hit. The couple says when the crash happened, they thought it was an earthquake.
