HARVEST, AL—
A man is shot to death inside his home. The Madison County murder remains unsolved. It's been just over two weeks since Marc Wenger's death, and there are still no arrests. The yellow police tape still tells a story. It first began 17 days ago. The story's main character is Marc Wenger.
"He was a good guy. He's tell you how it was. There wasn't any hiding anything from him," said James Baillargeon.
Wenger was found dead inside his Lariat Drive home on July 12. The Madison County Sheriff's Office says he was shot.
"It was not good," added Baillargeon.
Baillargeon worked for Wenger tree service in Harvest. The company was run out of Wenger's home.
Baillargeon says he didn't hear from his boss over the weekend as usual, so wondered about him on Monday.
He was one of the first to find Wenger dead.
"I walked inside with the sheriff, and there he was. It's hard to describe what kind of feeling you get when you see something like that," added Baillargeon.
Baillargeon wishes a blink of the eye could erase all memory.
"I could just see him on the floor, and half of his body. I wanted to go back out. I didn't want to see any of that," added Baillargeon.
Baillargeon knows what he sees in the fictional world of television, and says what's happening in real life is frustrating.
"I don't understand that. You go turn on the TV, and see all these shows of people getting caught from years, and years ago. We can't even solve a murder that just happened," added Baillargeon.
He admits to knowing what happens on TV is not always real, but thinks it can lead to ideas. Bottom line Baillargeon just wants Wenger's killer to be punished.
"I think he should rot for what he did. Wenger didn't deserve that. He was a good guy. to come in and shoot somebody. I don't believe you should be lenient on him in any way," Baillargeon.
The Madison County Sheriff's Office is tight-lipped about their murder investigation. Investigators still have not talked to us about the case since it opened 17 days ago.
Baillargeon and one other person worked with Wenger. Both are now looking for a new job since no one is left to run the company.
