MADISON COUNTY, AL - A teenage girl is dead after a wreck that happened Thursday in Madison County.

19-year-old Amy Leann Sharp of New Market died in that wreck around eight thirty last night.

Alabama State Troopers say Sharp was driving east on Joe Quick Road when she lost control of her 2005 Pontiac Grand Am and left the road near Narrow Lane. The car hit a utility pole and snapped it in half.

Sharp died at the scene. State Troopers say they are still investigating the cause of the crash. They say it appears Sharp was not wearing a seat belt.

Joe Quick Road was blocked for several hours as crews worked on the scene. Huntsville Utilities had to be called out to fix the pole that was broken.
