COLLECTION CENTERS FOR DONATIONS

Huntsville - The Rock is collecting for victims through their Manna House, located at 2300 Memorial Parkway. You can also pick up supplies if you need them.

Donations are still being accepted at 3223 Hollow Circle in Huntsville, across the street from J.F. Drake State Technical College between the hours of 8 a.m and 6 p.m.

The Salvation Army, located at 2114 Oakwood Ave is asking for donations of food, household items, hygiene items, and furniture.

CASA of Madison County, located at 701 Andrew Jackson Way is asking for donations of paper products, cleaning products, gift cards, and personal hygiene products for the elderly.

Other donations sites in Huntsville include:

ANIMAL SHELTERS

Meridianville - The Puppy Palace on 121 Shed Road in Meridianville will take in animals for those who've been displaced by the damage and need a place to keep their pets. Can take at least 20 dogs & cats. 256-828-6939

DONATE BLOOD

To find current blood drive locations, go to the Red Cross blood drive website for donor center information.

LifeSouth also continues to accept blood at its donor centers.

Huntsville Hospital is accepting blood donations at their headquarters on Bob Wallace Avenue.  Call for an appointment.  256-534-0599.

GIVING AND VOLUNTEERING

RED CROSS.  You can reach the American Red Cross in Huntsville at (256) 536-0084, who can route you to other areas as needed.  The National American Red Cross can also take your donations or route your volunteer requests.  You can text REDCROSS to 90999 and a $10 donation will be added to your next mobile phone bill, or mail a check to American Red Cross, P O Box 37243, Washington, DC  20013 or your local Red Cross office.

Note:  The American Red Cross is not set up to accept donated items such as food, clothing and household items.  Other local voluntary organizations that are active in disaster, such as the Salvation Army, are set up to collect and re-distribute donated items to disaster victims.  The American Red Cross relies on financial donations to support our work.  During the Mass Care phase of the disaster operation, that is currently in progress, the contributions we receive provides comfort kits, blankets, hot meals, shelter and supports the costs of logistics for mobile feeding.  

ALABAMA STATEWIDE 211.  Alabama’s Statewide 211 Volunteer Call Center is a 24/7 volunteer and donations hotline that provides an opportunity for people to connect to available volunteer and donation options.  Call 211 in the state of Alabama, or toll free 1-888-421-1266.

SERVE ALABAMA.  Register to volunteer or provide a financial donation to the Governor’s Emergency Relief Fund.  http://www.servealabama.gov/2010/default.aspx

SALVATION ARMY.  Salvation Army is taking donations for Phil Campbell and Hackleburg and other areas in need.

GUNTERSVILLE. Marshall County volunteers report to the EMA stationed at the old National Guard Armory on Creek Path Rd in Guntersville. 256-571-7329.

ARAB. Volunteers should report to the Arab Rec Center, across from Arab City Hall, which is located at 740 N. Main Street.

GURLEY: Janna's Basement Variety Thrift Shop is still accepting donations.

MADISON COUNTY. The United Way is handling volunteers for storm-damaged areas of Madison County. Individual volunteers are no longer needed for the recovery efforts.  Instead, the United Way of Madison County is requesting groups of volunteers (churches, colleges, corporate teams and others) to report for Saturday recovery efforts.  To volunteer, call the United Way at (256) 536-0745.

DEKALB COUNTY: Volunteers should report to the Rainsville Fire Station on Highway 35 or Broadway Baptist Church on Highway 75 near the Highway 35 intersection in Rainsville.
